Good morning everyone.  As I sit here in my office and listen to the helicopters flying over headed to support the fire fighters battling the Galena fire, I am reminded of the tragedies of last year, and the uneasiness I have for people about the coming season.

For us to have this early fire does not bode well for our upcoming summer and the dangers this continuing drought present to us.

Today we officially announce the formation of our new company, Cover Your Assets Better.  


CYABetter is a home inventory and small business personal property asset verification business.

We document all property with the use of digital video, digital photography and specialty designed and tailored spreadsheets for digitally recording of property.  We provide safe and permanent cloud storage options for these records.  We also offer additional services such as hardware, software and products for our clients through affiliate agreements with online retailers.

The inspiration for this business comes from our desire to have our own business, and seeing first-hand the issues faced by homeowners and small businesses they deal with when dealing with loss due to disaster or theft.

In 2005 when Aimee’s mother died we experienced the first time where some planning could have made a huge positive impact.  Her mother did not leave clear instructions with respect to distribution of her small estate resulting in hurt feelings and confusion among the remaining family members. 

Jeff’s parents lost nearly everything in the 2007 Greensburg, Kansas F5 tornado.  The devastating High Park Fires in 2012 has further inspired our mission and demonstrated the need for this type of business.  Jeff attended most of the relief meetings and disaster recovery meetings as a lay pastor, witnessing first-hand the issues faced by many people coping the loss of everything, then during the initial phases of recovery trying to help people overcome being victimized repeatedly by the system.  Jeff saw first-hand how some planning and preparation can overcome much of this.

Jeff brings a unique set of skills and background to this business.  Jeff was an  Insurance Agent, specializing in the coverage of homes, small farms and ranch estates.  Jeff has had extensive training and background in the property and casualty industry.  Since that time, Jeff has concentrated his career in start-up and turn-around businesses in service and retail sectors.  This background lends a unique perspective and expertise in inventory control and management.
